Tremosine, the land of red wines
Thanks to its mild climate, around Lake Garda it’s possible to grow grapes even at high altitudes. In fact, there are farms around the Alto Garda Bresciano Park that produce excellent red wines.
Tremosine sul Garda wine is a niche product, as it is produced only in small quantities in the vineyards located in the park.
However, the climate characteristics and environmental diversity of the valleys in the Alto Garda Bresciano Park create high-quality, fruity and full-bodied wine which perfectly matches the gastronomic products from Tremosine sul Garda and surrounds, halfway between mountains and lake.
The Garda DOC appellation was created recently, representing different types of red, white and sparkling wines produced in the immediate Lake Garda area.
Among these wines we can recall Garda Rosso Doc, a deep ruby-red wine, made from Gropello, Marzemino, Barbera and Sangiovese grapes.
This wine is available in two versions - the first is aged for a minimum of one year, and the second is the ‘classic’ version, obtained from grapes grown in a well-defined production area, under the name of Garda Classico Doc - Parco Alto Garda Bresciano.
Its fruity and full-bodied taste goes perfectly with the cured meats and cheeses from the Park, as well as with meat and the famous spiedo bresciano! There is nothing better than a glass of red wine while waiting in front of the tambür, the traditional machine that cooks the spit.
On Lake Garda you can also taste excellent white, rosè and Garda Doc sparkling wines, as well as a many other famous wines such as Chiaretto and Lugana.
Curious Facts - Marzemino doc from the Alto Garda Bresciano Park
In Tremosine, Garda Marzemino Dop is also produced from grapes from the Alto Garda Bresciano Park.
Marzemino is a full-bodied, intense wine. It goes very well with meat with stronger flavours, such as game, aged cheeses or black truffle cheeses from Brescia.
